Unvibe is a free desktop app for Mac and Windows that explains code in plain English. Select code in any app, such as Cursor, VS Code, Xcode, Terminal or your browser, and press Control+U on Mac or Ctrl+Alt+U on Windows. A panel opens beside your editor and the explanation streams in.
Pick New, Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced depth for free (Expert is part of Pro), ask a follow-up question about the same code, and take Test me, a one-question quiz on what you just read. Saved explanations go to your Library so you can come back to them.
It is for people who build with AI coding tools and want to understand the code before they ship it, and for people learning to code. No API key or card needed; the free plan has a usage limit. Keys and tokens are filtered on your computer before selected code is sent to a cloud AI model. AI explanations can be wrong, so check important answers against the code. The Mac build is not notarized by Apple yet, so the first open needs an approval step in System Settings: https://unvibe.site/install-help
